Research interest
Taste signaling provides animals and humans with crucial information about the nutritional value of foods while post-ingestive analysis provides a further level of information. The comparison between these two levels of food analysis drive learning and adaptive feeding behaviour.
In the Musso lab, we use the powerful Drosophila melanogaster (or fruit fly) model system to understand how taste and post-ingestive information are integrated and how discrepancies between the two leads to behavioural adaptation. Finally we aim at understanding how neural circuits integrate these information and control feeding behaviour.
